About

Diss Badminton is an informal group playing badminton at Hartismere High School, Eye every Wednesday evening throughout the year, normally from 7pm to 9pm.

We normally play on 3 courts for 2 hours each from 7pm to 9pm.  These courts are prepaid and booked.

All abilities are welcome from beginners upwards.  PLEASE TEXT ME ON 0751 554 3593 TO CHECK IF ANY PLACES ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE or check this website http://www.dissbadminton.wordpress.com

Charges are limited to only cover the costs of court hire, insurance and the costs of shuttles used.

Although we aim to play on every Wednesday throughout the year, the school will from time to time close the sports hall for exams or other school events.

They may also close in adverse weather conditions.

Check out the    “Sports Hall Closure”    page on this site for updates on closures or any changes as to which hall we may use.

    Hi Edwin

Thanks for your interest. We are still full at the moment. Should the situation change I will let you know. Meanwhile I think there is another group that plays at the same place as us but on a Thursday. I do not have any contact details but you could try asking the school. Regards Trevor

    Hi Trevor.
Just to let you know that following my tumble a couple of weeks ago I have decided not to continue playing. I don’t know if it is a lack of agility or of technique but as this was the second fall involving my head and a pretty solid floor I think it would be foolhardy to carry on and risk it happening again. I had also hoped that after 18 months I could have been more competitive playing with and against other members of the group but it is obvious to me that this is not the case. I guess I’ve just left it too late in life to start a new pastime chasing around a badminton court. So I’ll look for something safer like swimming or ballroom dancing!! Thanks for the challenge – it’s been enjoyable, even if a little dangerous.
    Very best wishes, Mitch

      Hi Mitch

I am very sorry that you have decided to give up the badminton especially as you had improved so very much from when you started playing. However I do understand your concerns regarding the falls you have had and the potential for more as you put great effort into your playing. I am very conscious that with some of our newer, faster players some of us will find it harder to ‘keep up’. I have always tried to make the group as open to all levels of players as possible and will continue to try and achieve this. I am pleased that you enjoyed your time with us and I wish you well in whatever you decide to take up in the future.

Kind Regards and Very Best Wishes

      Trevor

Excellent. Thanks for letting me know. I will hopefully pop along this Wednesday or next. I haven’t played for sometime, but I am desperate need of upping my fitness!

        Thanks.
